New Artwork! Ornaments Pattern

New Artwork! Ornaments Pattern

New artwork.. I started out by sketching the ornaments I wanted to use in the pattern on the ipad and did a quick time lapse of that.  Then i transferred that image to my macbook and isolated the ornaments and completed a a tessellation in Photoshop.  Festive festive.  The cartoonish effect of digital hand drawing using the apple pencil settings I tried ends up looking very childhood festive.  I am really excited about this holiday season.  I am happy I feel well enough to make new art lately.  These designs are great for all over print shirts bevcause who doesn't want to walk around looking like a christmas tree right about now.  Great for placemats and dresses and hats and socks.  I love a good all over print pattern.  This one has a few freebie layer styles i got about a decade a go to make the candy cane stripes on the outline.  I did a quick search to see if I could find it again and there was a whole page of results on google for candy cane stripe layer styles.  Collect your tools as a graphic designer, you never know when an image might start selling but tools we use change every year.  Thats why i love photoshop.  Still compatible add ons after ten years.   Can't beat that.  Many tools we use as plug ins  software though has disappeared or become unsupported. You can still add brushes layer styles and shapes yourself as you design them in photoshop, and I think developers can still create some for export.  It may just be a matter of copying and pasting from the presets folders.   I tried to make sure all my presets I collected were ok to use commercially when I got them because I was goin g to school for graphic design at the time that I was collecting them.  I can not stress the importance of keeping your print on demand tools commercial friendly.  You don't want that design that some box store wants to pick up turned down because of copyright issues.  Respect other artists.  And don't share tools if you are wanting exclusivity.  I just bought some designs for the holidays from designeous that I'm going to tear my teeth into for some fun patterns this week as well.  Designeous makes all their clip art commercial and its affordable.  Check them out.

Happy Holidays.  I can't wait to see what festive designs come out in print on demand this year.  So far I have seen alot of photographing christmas decorations in cool crops and lighting then adding textural elements like bokeh and glitter styles and just simple treatm, ents of textual elements.  classy christmas everyone!
