Ray went down early so I could wash clothes while I went down to Breakfast - ...Crazy bathroom. then on our own again. This another completely filled day. Went back to St. Peters to take our time and to see the pieta again. First though walked to bus stop and took bus to four blocks from Spanish Steps. On bus met Wilhemena Miss Olsen and Miss Miller. Again met them at stops and again American Express. I have forgotten to mention the water at all so I'll put it down here - Weather is like Palm Beach Fla. - palm trees too - beautiful --After St. Peters we wandered around again. Had hours de voures , soup and wine at sidewalk cafe - twin churches we went to - Ceasars Forum, Gates of Titus and Hadrian - Roman Forum all the ruins... A most interesting day. Back to the colosseum where some protest was going on - stood on ... looking down. almost ... if your imagination pictured them all in togas somewherer was playing Zorba the Greek ! too. Found a quiet little street where on each side was remains of little shops from ceasars time. Very interesting - Saw where cesar was killed in 45 b.c. ... Saw a memorial to one of ceasar's wife - taken over now by dozens of lots. ... Went back to Piassa Navonna the tried to find Cistena restarante - finally got a cab - this is taking your life in your hands. - its closed - driver takes us to another and its closed - Finally he takes us to one he knows - La Bitta . By the way, hours of working and eating are completely different throughout Italy. Got to restraunt about 7:30 this is early to eat here. Amazing, delicious Roman dinner. Spaghetti, Scampis, ..bread and white wine. dish strawberries and dish fresh fruit, cafe cappuccino, Lovely! Get cab for hotel, bed around 9:30 10:00 pm I've probably forgotten something about this day but as I said - a very full day. and it is hard to write on the bus.
